My name is Joyce McMahon and I have 20 years of experience in energy industry communications and marketing. I was at the MA Dept. of Energy Resources (DOER) during the nascent days of gas and electric utility restructuring and had the opportunity to work on an electric car leasing program long before the days of Tesla and Prius. The biggest lesson I took from DOER was that we need a mix of fuels to feed our electric grid. Nuclear, hydro, natural gas, solar, wind, DR, and energy efficiency all have to be present if we’re going to maintain affordability and system reliability.
I have been fortunate to parlay that early experience into my now 13+ year-old PR/Government affairs firm, McMahon Communications where I am supported by a network of experienced marketing, public affairs and communications pros. Together we have, and have had the good fortune to work with a variety of utilities, generators, energy efficiency technology developers, renewable energy developers, trade groups, and grassroots and economic development organizations with their PR, marketing, community outreach and government relations needs. From nuclear power, to smart grid technologies, from tools to help energy auditors, to new technologies to improve HVAC system efficiency, to natural gas LDCs and generation siting, to market rules and energy legislation, we’re committed to helping our clients reach their stakeholders, build support, enact change and in the end improve everyone’s energy and climate future.
